For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?
For me, this is a simple question with a simple answer. Nothing, he profits nothing. But I’m not so sure how simple of a question this would be to someone who doesn’t know much about his or hers soul. To gain the world is the please the flesh, (John 1:15—For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.) and I believe if you asked most people, they would say, “What else is there to please but my flesh?” I have been taught, by C.S. Lewis that “You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.”Why would you please your flesh when what really counts is your soul? Forfeit nothing for your soul because the soul is where the Lord looks. The soul holds what really matters. The soul is who we truly are. Thank the Lord for your soul and protect it and build it up in the way of the Lord.
